Where and how do the eep currentlychildren sl?
The kids are sharing three rooms, boys and girls are separate. The only furniture in their rooms are the beds so far, double beds made from wood. Their clothes are stored in big bags that are standing next to their beds.
Why do they need new beds?
The double beds are more than 11 years old, some are broken and slats are missing. That is why we decided that it is time to change some beds. At the same time there was a request from the ministry of social welfare in Ghana, that is controlling all children’s homes in the country. From time to time they introduce new regulations, as for example the material of the furniture in those homes. As wood is less hygienic than metal, they prefer metal. That is the reason why we decided for this new material for the new beds.
How did we realize our project?
Before our fundraising activity, we asked for a cost estimate for 8 double floor beds. Therefore we knew that we would need to collect 4000 Cedi which are around 1000 Euro. Luckily we were able to collect that amount and transfer in January 2018. Currently the welder is doing his job to build the beds. Pictures will follow as soon as possible.
